Montessori Philosophy and Growth
Our Philosophy
The Hills Montessori School follows the Montessori Philosophy, providing an environment that is best suited to the development of the child through the basic principles of freedom of choice, independence, individual learning and discipline from within the child which are an integral part of the child’s experience.
This philosophy is based on the knowledge that a child growing in an atmosphere of respect and understanding for each other and the natural world will develop those values into adulthood

Objectives
Our objective is to provide an educational environment that develops confidence and inner security in each child.
This promotes:
Teaching MethodsMontessori-Based
Our teaching methods are closely based on the insights, materials, and discoveries of Maria Montessori. These methods are designed to support the development of each child’s sensory-motor skills, discrimination and judgement, socialisation, intelligence, and imagination.
The Montessori educational approach significantly differs from traditional methods, prioritising the individuality of each child. Our guiding motto is, “Help Me To Do It Myself.”
Parent InvolvementEncouraging Participation
Understanding Montessori methods and principles helps parents recognise their child’s development. Each year, we host educational evenings or morning and afternoon teas to discuss aspects of child development and Montessori philosophy.
All parents are encouraged to attend, as a comprehension of these principles can directly and constructively assist in their child’s progress.

Curriculum and RegulationsAdhering to Curriculum Standards
In addition to our strong Montessori philosophy, Hills Montessori adheres to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the My Time, Our Place (MTOP) Board of studies curriculums and the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011.
Our Mission
Our mission is to foster the foundation and growth of each child’s personality and independence while instilling a lifelong love of learning. Self-directed, self-paced, and uninterrupted work cycles enhance deeper concentration, leading to greater understanding.
