There has been an increasing demand and interest for tasting the summer harvest from our lovely outdoor area. So far, the children have tasted, peaches, apples, mint, salt bush and native currents from our edible garden and we were also able to harvest bananas in the last week of Term 1.
Children have been sharing a lot of knowledge and interest in tasting and using language to communicate the sensory aspect of the various tastes they have been exploring.
Before we sat down to make the salad we said the acknowledgement of country together, appreciating that we are planting and harvesting on Dharug land. We discussed how we can give back to the environment while we take things from it. Children understand the give and take nature of how the world works.
Here are some pictures of our colourful bush harvest that have left our taste buds bursting with flavours!
