Harmony Day 2025

Harmony Week was celebrated throughout the school, with each class engaging in activities that promoted inclusiveness and respect for cultural diversity. The highlight from the week included the amazing artworks created by each classroom and the group performances from each class of the songs they have been learning that promote diversity and acceptance.

The Lorikeet Class created a Harmony Day tree artwork representing unity, using orange fingerprints to symbolize belonging. They also learned a song about inclusion and participated in various activities that emphasized the theme of everyone belonging.

The Brolga Class explored the meaning of harmony through discussions and artwork, focusing on skin color diversity and anger management skills. They created a canvas of portraits using skin tone paints, fostering self-acceptance and appreciation of differences. They also enjoyed a visit from a parent who introduced them to the sounds of the Didgeridoo, enhancing their cultural understanding.

The Cockatiel Class engaged in discussions about similarities and differences among individuals while wearing cultural outfits. They practiced a song that reinforced the idea of togetherness, contributing to the overall theme of Harmony Week.

The Kookaburra Class participated in a picnic where they tasted traditional foods from various cultures, including Sri Lankan rice pudding and Korean sushi. This provided a hands-on experience of cultural sharing and appreciation.

Throughout the week, children explored their cultural backgrounds through activities involving flags, continent maps, and cultural books, helping them to understand and appreciate global diversity.
