This year the stall raised...

Bees Wax Wraps
Bees Wax Wraps - A New and Exciting Mission This interest and knowledge started from a parent of a past student in the Lorikeets class who came in to do a demonstration of how bees wax wraps can be made at home. This year we are hoping to make some of these for the Kindergarten X'Mas stall. It is a huge labour of love as it's a lot of hard work to get shavings of the bees wax with a tiny vegetable peeler. Children have started to work tirelessly on this and have shown great interest and curiosity about the...

Pets!
The past fortnight, Kindy have been focusing on pets. Mostly, how we care and look after them, the different pets people have, what pets the children have or wish to have. We also practised how to approach pets in a quiet and calm way so as not to startle them. The children have also had opportunities to meet pets belonging to our friends. Kylee has even brought in her dog, Daisy to stay for the day. The children learnt how to play with Daisy: chasing her, throwing balls for her, patting and feeding her. This was an amazing opportunity many...

Silkworms
The silkworm eggs were kept in a dark box in the store room for several months. These eggs were laid last year in November and December. At the beginning of term 3, we got them out and put them in the large glass container and added mulberry leaves. Everyday the children would watch the eggs waiting to see the silkworms coming out. One day, we noticed the tiniest silkworms ever. We watched closely to double check if they were silkworms or not. We got a magnifying glass. We noticed that they slowly were moving, so we knew they were silkworms...

Happy Birthday Maria!
We celebrated Dr. Maria Montessori’s birthday by ‘lighting’ 153 paper candles as a tribute to her life. Everyday we are grateful to be following her philosophy which helps all the children in our school be themselves and value their own personalities as well as others. Maria Montessori always promoted peace so we celebrated by making doves to symbolise peace and beautifully sang the peace song.It was a lovely way to come together as a school and celebrate Maria together. Here are some pictures from the days leading up to it as well where children used their math knowledge to count...

Reconciliation Week 2023 – Be the Voice for Generations
Using Adam Goodes’ book, Somebody’s Land, as a foundation for truth telling, together we had a yarn about whose land we are on. Through this, children understood the true meaning behind the acknowledgment of country they say each day. The colour yellow which we wore this week represents the sun, the giver of life. In simple terms children were explained that the sun gives life to trees and trees in turn give us oxygen which helps humans and animals live. Hence, we are all connected. Children sat in the warmth of the sun, feeling the cool grass and dirt with...
