We celebrated Dr. Maria Montessori’s birthday by ‘lighting’ 153 paper candles as a tribute to her life. Everyday we are grateful to be following her philosophy which helps all the children in our school be themselves and value their own personalities as well as others. Maria Montessori always promoted peace so we celebrated by making doves to symbolise peace and beautifully sang the peace song.
It was a lovely way to come together as a school and celebrate Maria together.

Here are some pictures from the days leading up to it as well where children used their math knowledge to count her age in tens as they helped make the 153 candles. Creating her birthday banner was also lots of fun and a quiet time for reflection.
