What is Montessori
Kindergarten?
The children in their last year of preschool at Hills Montessori are not merely beginning a new stage of life and schooling; they are, in fact, at the culmination of a two or three-year journey. They are now reaping the benefits of the seeds planted when they first began in the Montessori environment.
Kindergarten hours are 8:30 am—2:30 pm, Monday to Friday, during the NSW Government school terms.
Before Session Care is available from 7:30 am, and After Session Care is available from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

Montessori Philosophy
Maria Montessori observed and designed for the whole child, addressing their physical, mental/intellectual, social, and emotional needs equally. The basic principles of freedom of choice, independence, individual learning, and self-discipline have been integral to each child’s experience.
Learning Approach
Since the key to a child’s learning is the process itself, you won’t see the children’s work extensively displayed. At this stage of development, individual achievements and goals are considered more important.
Key Learning Areas (KLAs)Core Subjects for Young Learners
The six Key Learning Areas (KLAs) as defined by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) are each an integral part of the Montessori Program for 5-6 year-olds. Below is an overview of each area:
